Plumbing Update (Basement Tub)

The Basement Tub has filled again with about 6-8 inches of water.

Poured in the Heavy Duty Stuff.  I am figuring, if the water goes down (hopefully when, not if) i will first replace the filter on the pipe, and then do a quick snaking of the drain just to try and dislodge any problem areas.

The Kitchen Clean Up 03/02/2019

These are pictures taken by Sahara of the work that she did in the kitchen.

The Bathroom Closet 03/02/2019

Sahara began the adventure that is the Bathroom Closet.  For now, she was able to separate out linens and towels and blankets into bags that I have already begun taking home to launder.  My goal, is to knock having to clean any of the fabric items, and make going through that a ton easier.

P.S. He has a Lot Lot Lot of towels.
Be prepared, if you need towels, don't buy any until you see the stack

Bedroom Wall Cleaning and patch repair. 03/02/2019

There was a very random spot above Mickees Bed where plaster had clearly fallen away, and he had just paint over it.

I cleaned it, hit it with some spackle, and sanded it down to level the ceiling out.

So the first cleaning here was with just Dawn and water, and it cut through a large batch of the smoke stain.

Yes, that's a cocoon to some type of insect along the top edge.   I believe Jason and I counted there to be eight in the room.  They don't appear to be old, as they aren't covered in the same soot.

No matter, they got's ta go.

If the pattern here seems random, it because there were times when Sahara needed the step stool for work in the kitchen and pantry, so I worked on the higher stuff first.

Once the wall was fully cleaned, I refilled the bucket with two cups of vinegar, some dawn dishwashing liquid, and water, and did a full pass again.  it really helped to brighten the wall, and the room smelled a bit better by the end. One wall down, three and a ceiling to go.

Good solid steps in getting the room back to it's glory.

Cookie Jars 03/02/2019

The Cookie Jars (of the ones found so far) have now got a safe home in the Pantry, thanks to Sahara who went through and read the dates on all food items and cleared the space. She then gathered the Jars and neatly place them in their temporary home.

Funny enough, this is the spot where I remember the Cookie Jars being when Patrick passed away, so to me, they have returned to their home.

Master Bedroom Cleaning 02/23/2019

These four first photos are to show the difference with the cleaning of the wall.

You, hopefully can see the section that I was able to get scrubbed this weekend.  It's a whole different shade of Purple.  Once the wash is complete, I will put a base coat of KILZ paint over the wall to extinguish the smoke smell.  Jason said it is VERY much noticeable different smell already.  Which made me feel really good.

Tap the photo to enlarge it:

Did the panorama below.  it was originally all the way around the room, but somehow got cut off without showing the window and balcony side.

The desk was together with those dance iKEA allen Wrench screws, which created and issue (read the Basement post to know the rest of that) but then I realized, and IKEA desk falls apart with a dirty look.  grabbed a corner, and this thing basically peeled apart waaaay to easily.  It served its purpose, but deserved to be recycled.

The space was a cleaning..... adventure.

Please note, garbage bags get filled with "Like" clothing (pants in one, shirts in another) and are getting taken from the home with each visit, to get laundered.  And these don't even include the closet clothes yet, these are just from the drawers.

I found a lamp in the basement on my journey down there (see earlier post) and when Jason saw it he mentioned it was his, but he thought a former roommate had absconded with it.  Funny enough, the lampshade for it was in the living room still. (You may see it in Livingroom photos on the floor near the fireplace originally).  I tighten the drawer handles on the little dresser, and repositioned the computer on it, and recooked it up.

The Tiffany lamp in these photos came from my house before I realized there's like 17 lamps in the basement that I could have used.  The room was just real dark, and I needed something to help when it would get darker.

This big chest will have many many things for you to go through.  I am storing items in there as I find them.  The tall chest by the bed is completely empty.  And the fridge is still taped sealed, but running.  Whatever was causing the stench you smelled Josette, is still in there, but at least it's not getting heated in there.  P.s.  Note the silver DVD player behind the TV.  I gave that to Mickee many many years ago.  I found it in the closet. with the remote.  Plugged it in, and it still works.  or, at least turns on.  I have yet to find the remote for the TV so I can turn that on.  All he had out was the remote for the DISH box.

Reminder, Dish TV still needs to be notified via the address I had sent you with a Death certificate.  They then need to send a shipping package for me to ship the box back to them.  Not sure if that's been done yet.  At the very least, the automatic withdrawal from his account has been stopped.

Upstair Bathroom Upgrade 02/23/2019

This took 10 hours, and I learned a lot more about the difference between house plumbing and condo plumbing.... you may thing plumbing is plumbing, it aint.

Before

I never noticed how low this sink was.
Note it was at the same height, almost, as the top of the toilet back.
Seriously, check your toilet in your home, and image a bathroom counter that same height.
At Mickee's height, I really have to wonder why was this so low?  Dave?!!

"Dave" was Mickee's friend at the parking ramp where he worked.  Dave was the person who installed this.  I have a few choice words for Dave.

After

This feels soooooo good to have done.

Also, the drain is now fully snaked.

I also took all the towels (asking Jason which were his first) from the Hamper, and the room, and laundered them all.  For one guy, he had a fair share of towels.
